Our Objective

At Growthfarm, our objective is to facilitate farmers of poor and marginal background to stand at their own feet and can produce crops effectively and in a scientific manner. These are implemented in ways that benefit smallholder farmers, enabling them and their families to go beyond subsistence farming  and to produce good and surplus crops that can be stored and sold to markets, paving the way for prosperity. Surplus produce, which is stored as food, serves as a buffer in times of hunger. Income from marketed produce enable farm families to purchase more food when needed, including inputs such as seeds, fertilizer, labor, tools, livestock, insurance and education. These will further raise farm productivity

As we are aware that Agriculture plays a vital role in India’s economy. Over 58 per cent of the rural households depend on agriculture as their principal means of livelihood. Agriculture, along with fisheries and forestry, is one of the largest contributors to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). As per the 2nd advised estimates by the Central Statistics Office (CSO), the share of agriculture and allied sectors (including agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishery) is expected to be 17.3 per cent of the Gross Value Added (GVA) during 2016-17 at 2011-12 prices.

India is the largest producer, consumer and exporter of spices and spice products. India's fruit production has grown faster than vegetables, making it the second largest fruit producer in the world. India's horticulture output, is estimated to be 287.3 million tonnes (MT) in 2016-17 after the first advance estimate. It ranks third in farm and agriculture outputs. Agricultural export constitutes 10 per cent of the country’s exports and is the fourth-largest exported principal commodity. The agro industry in India is divided into several sub segments such as canned, dairy, processed, frozen food to fisheries, meat, poultry, and food grains. So we initiated our activities keeping in mind the present status of farmers which are our key stakeholders. Besides our aim is to provide holistic development of farmers in a positive manner and we believe in adopting an Integrated Approach involving Agro Forestry, Forestry, Livelihood , Nutrition and sustainable environmental practices and promote organic farming through its interventions in farm lands.

We rightly believe that productivity increases can be achieved through conservation and effective use of genetic resources. Access to productive assets such as land and water will unlock further productive potential, especially for women. Diversifying opportunities, such as moving into higher value products like livestock, fish, vegetables, fruit or other tree crops, can increase income. Setting up of Market Linkages for allied activities on Agriculture and post harvest processing activities shall be done including different agriculture and Livestock Practices to boost farmers income and high yielding crop varieties.

Research is gender-sensitive and promotes gender equity – especially adapted to the needs of poor women. Prioritize food sector entrepreneurship along agri-food supply chains to provide opportunities for youth employment and women farmers is one of our key Priorities.

Major Activities under GrowthFarm

The following interventions would be adopted to name a few.

  1. Organic Farming and Vermicomposting:  Due to incessant use of chemicals in the agricultural  products especially in fruits and vegetables has lead to many diseases and other environmental related issues. So in order to reduce dependency on chemical based Fertilizers we shall have provision for encouragement of Farmers to adopt Organic Cultivation and imparting knowledge for its applications and long term benefits.  Vermicomposting involves an initiative of introducing earthworms and microorganisms into a pit containing waste biomass and cattle dung. Use of Vermicompost has shown positive outcomes of plant health and growth, as well as in improvement of soil quality, prevention of runoff, preservation of groundwater quality, reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, and conservation of biodiversity.

  2. Agricultural Nurseries: We promote the establishment of agricultural nurseries and vermicomposting among farmers through sensitisation, training and handholding support.

  3. Mushroom Cultivation:  Mushroom Cultivation is an important aspect for increasing demand to cater to the huge population of benefits of Mushroom.  Farmers can enhance their income through production of Mushrooms which require little training and knowledge in selected regions.  Mushroom cultivation involves usage of compost that provides nutrients needed for mushrooms to grow. Two types of material are generally used for mushroom compost, the most used and least expensive being wheat straw-bedded horse manure.  Synthetic compost is usually made from hay and crushed corncobs, although the term often refers to any mushroom compost where the prime ingredient is not horse manure. Farmers would be provided spawns for mushroom growth and requisite scientific training to equip them with the cultivation aspects

  4. Farmers Awareness Programmes:  Regular On farm and Off farm based Farmers Training and Awareness  Programmes shall be organized to enhance framers capacity building and time to time knowledge on  aspects of  Pre and Post Harvesting Techniques, Holistic growth by  usage of  Farm based  Techniques and  agricultural growth output. Knowledge on micro nutrients and correct sowing techniques, Irrigation and water conservation measures to name a few.

  5. Setting up of FPOs and Seed Bank:  Strengthening Seed Bank Programmes, Demonstration and Agribusiness Techniques for holistic approach to important Crop growth.  Distribution of Seeds, discussions on common issues faced by farmers and imparting them knowledge. Promotion of FPO and Irrigation based Techniques. Kisan Call centers and Agribusiness Module for promotion .
